We’re one week into the New Year and many of us are looking for ways to introduce and adopt healthier habits for 2023. Whether it’s improving our sleep schedule, reducing stress, or becoming more mindful, there’s an easy way to get support and stay on track – by using an app.
With thousands of wellness apps available, it can be difficult to narrow down which apps may work for you. Over the last several years, I’ve tried so many mindful apps and have landed on three of my favorites. You can try these apps for free and even invest in them for the New Year. Here are 3 mindful apps for personal growth in 2023.
1) Reflectly | Mood Tracker, Journal, Daily Quotes
Reflectly is the #1 journaling app that’s like your best friend. Vent your thoughts and feelings to improve your mood and practice mindfulness. Write down how you feel each day in your own mood diary. It’s the world’s first intelligent journal app and mood tracker that gives you personalized motivation and prompts the more you use it.
the app store.

If you prefer journaling on your device(s), Reflectly is a great app to explore. It’s user friendly and it makes journaling fun. They have daily challenges that you can complete, such as making someone smile today or donating one piece of clothing you haven’t worn in a while.
I’ve been using the free version of this app for several months and it works perfectly. They’re currently offering the “New Year, New Me” discount for their Premium version for $14.49 CAD/year when it normally goes for $79.99 CAD/year. With over 9.3k reviews, Reflectly has an average rating of 4.3 on the App Store.
2) I am – Daily Affirmations | Positive Reminders, Motivation
How many negative thoughts have been endlessly repeating in your mind? Daily affirmations help rewire our brains, build self-esteem, and change negative thought patterns. Empower yourself by verbally affirming your dreams and ambitions. Choose from many daily intentions and set reminders to be delivered throughout the day.

I am offers empowering affirmations that you can benefit from daily. You can choose from a wide variety of backgrounds, fonts, and colors to suit your style. The free version offers General affirmations, while the Premium version ($3.99 CAD/month or $26.49 CAD/year) allows you to choose what types of affirmations you’d like to see, such as controlling stress, anxiety, and more.
I’ve been using the General version for about a year now and have no complaints! You can also set reminders to receive positive notifications throughout the day. I am has over 27k reviews on the App Store with an average rating of 4.8 stars.
3) Headspace | Focus, Meditation, Relax, Sleep
Stress less, sleep soundly, and get happier. Headspace is everyday mindfulness and meditation, so you can make mindfulness a daily habit and be kind to your mind. Learn how to relax, manage stress, find your focus, and release tension in both the mind and body.

Headspace offers a wide variety of meditations, so you’ll be sure to find something to suit your mood every time. I love their morning, focus, and winding down meditations. It’s especially great for beginners, as they offer short 3-minute mindful meditations to help you build your practice.
The only downside to this app is the price tag. If you’re looking to invest in an app this year, Headspace could be the one. They charge $89.99 CAD per year or $17.99 CAD per month. With over 128k reviews, this app has an average rating of 4.8 stars on the App Store.
While our devices can pose as a huge distraction, we can choose to use it as a tool for mindfulness with these apps. The next time you’re scrolling, why not download and give these mindful apps a try instead. What are your thoughts on mindful apps? Do you use any? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
