Autumn is a time of transition, where we celebrate the beauty of change and reflect on the past year. After a long summer filled with fun activities and adventure, it’s the perfect time to slow down and embrace productive activities that’ll get you ready before one of the busiest time of the year arrives. Here are 5 simple ways you can be productive this fall.

1) Change Up Your Daily Routine As we enter the fall season, it’s a great time to make some changes to your current routine. Are you getting enough sleep? Exercise? Time for self-care? These are just a few important things to consider as you’re building your new routine. These small changes can positively impact your mental and physical wellbeing. It can also be exciting to switch things up and have a new routine to look forward to.
A few things I recommend include…
• Everyday Mantras by Aysel Gunar. This book of seasonal affirmations along with beautiful imagery is the perfect addition to your morning or evening routine. Some themes include grounding, mindfulness, and patience. Read my review here.
• Atomic Habits by James Clear. If you’re looking for guidance on forming healthier habits and breaking old ones, you need to read this book. The simple yet effective tips in this book are perfect for building a new routine. Read my review here.
2) Try a New Hobby Trying new hobbies can be a fun and refreshing way to switch up your routine. It also allows you to enjoy the warmth of being indoors as the weather starts to cool. Engaging in a new hobby can be incredibly fulfilling, reduces boredom, enhances creativity, and can even help you develop a sense of community. Some fun hobbies include journaling, joining a book club, or participating in a group fitness activity.
A few things I recommend include…
• 5-Minute Daily Writing Prompts by Tarn Wilson Writing is a great way to let your creative juices flow and overcome writer’s block. This practical book includes short and simple prompts that you can tackle each day.
• Audible Whether you’re looking to join a book club, or you just want to start reading more, Audible gives you access to thousands of audiobooks and podcasts. You can listen anywhere you’d like!
3) Update Your Vision Board A vision board is a powerful tool that serves the purpose of inspiring and motivating you to stay on track with your goals and aspirations. It’s time to reflect on what you want to accomplish for the last few months of 2023 and entering into 2024. That way, you can create an action plan that’ll align you with practical ways to achieve all of your goals.
A few things I recommend include…
• Pinterest This is the go-to site to find inspiration for just about anything. Save or pin whatever speaks to you, and you can return to your board whenever you need some inspiration.
• Canva If you prefer to create your own vision board, I recommend using Canva. It’s very easy to use and you can adjust the sizing, especially if you’d like to use it as your laptop, iPad, or phone wallpaper!
4) Plan Ahead As mentioned earlier, one of the busiest times of the year is just a few weeks away. Get a head start on the festivities and reduce your stress levels by staying organized. This can include making a list of celebrations you plan on attending, creating a list and budget for gifts, taking advantage of sales, and delegating holiday tasks.
My top two recommended tasks include…
• Create a realistic budget for the holiday season that includes taxi/Uber/public transportation fees to and from holiday parties, outfits for each occasion, and charity donations. These expenses are often overlooked as a majority tend to only budget for gifts, food, and holiday décor.
• Be specific with your gifts this season so you can start comparing prices online for different retailers. Take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals to ensure you get the best prices this year. Being specific also helps you stay on track with your budget!
5) Invest in a Therapy Lamp Light therapy lamps are an effective way to manage symptoms of seasonal affective disorder. Using a light therapy lamp during the fall and winter months can alleviate symptoms of depression and fatigue. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my mood and productivity once I incorporated a SAD lamp into my workspace.

A few I recommend include…
• LASTAR Lamp I’ve had this therapy lamp for 2 years and it’s incredibly effective. It offers very simple and basic features, but it gets the job done. What I love most about this is the design, it easily fits and compliments any room or office!
• MediAcous Lamp If you’re looking for something more advanced, this light therapy lamp includes more features. There are 4 brightness levels, different color temperatures to choose from, and a timer.
These productive fall activities will help you navigate the last few months of 2023 like a pro. By updating your daily routine, staying organized, and planning ahead, you’ll find yourself one step ahead of the game and you’ll be able to lower your stress levels. Which task will you be taking on this fall? I’d love to hear your thoughts. For more posts relating to productivity, visit my tag here.
