With the rising costs of everyday expenses such as groceries and bills, it’s no wonder many of us are looking for easy ways to save money. From negotiating better rates with our service providers, to saying “no” to impulsive spending, these 7 tips will help you put some extra cash back in your wallet.
1) Find Better Deals/Bundles Many of us have stuck with our TV, internet, and insurance providers for years. It’s time to do some research and see what competitive offers are available. If you’re happy with your current providers, consider making a phone call to see if they can match or offer better rates and bundles for long-time customers.
Phone and internet service providers may be able to reduce your plan payments or give you a cheaper alternative that works. For example, you can negotiate your internet bill from $100 to $85, saving you $15. Some cable providers even give you the option to get access to streaming channels like Netflix, Crave, and Amazon Prime in addition to cable channels for affordable fees.

2) Unsubscribe Unless you’re eyeing something in particular and waiting for it to go on sale, unsubscribe from marketing e-mails. This includes clothing, jewelry, books, and more. These newsletters are always offering tempting and time sensitive deals, which often leads to impulsive spending.
3) 48 Hour Rule When I spot something online/in store that catches my eye, such as a pair of shoes or a bag, I will give myself 48 hours to decide whether or not I still want it. 95% of the time, I don’t go back for it! This method has made it much easier to walk away from impulsive buys, allowing me to save money and save my space from clutter.
4) Cut Back It can be hard to keep track of our daily expenses, so sit down and go through your bills to see which areas you can cut back on. This includes reducing your energy usage, conserving water, being mindful of bank fees, and more.
5) Cancel Unused Subscriptions There are so many subscription services to choose from nowadays including audiobooks, music, TV, movies, and more. By identifying which service(s) you can go without, you can save a significant amount of money and put that towards bills or a future trip.
6) No Spend Weekends The cost-of-living has increased our day-to-day expenses, not to mention the brunch and coffee dates that we treat ourselves to on the weekends. By embracing a no-spend weekend at least once a month, you’ll be able to save a significant amount that you can put towards your financial goals.

7) Use What You Have Convenience plays a huge role in our society, but it comes at a cost. As tempting as it may be to order food delivery or buy a new shirt because your old one has a hole in it, I challenge you to get creative and use what you have and think about repurposing your items before sending them to the landfill.
Saving money isn’t always easy, especially with the increasing costs of living, but by following some of these simple steps, it is possible to put more money back in your pocket for the things that matter. What are some ways you like to save money? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I totally agree with these tips, I always thoroughly research before buying something! And try to find the best deals when you do buy something. I tried no-spend April but with a traffic light system on how much I spent. I think a no-spend weekend is a much more manageable challenge x

This is great advice on how to save money! I agree with unsubscribing from marketing emails because it can be tempting to buy things you don’t necessarily need just because they’re on sale. Also, it’s important to cancel subscriptions you don’t use!
I’m like you where if I’m browsing online, I’ll bookmark something I want, then I’ll come back to it later in the week, and I usually don’t want it anymore. The same goes for shopping in stores. I saw a blanket hoodie on sale in the store, and even though I’ve been wanting one, I wasn’t sure if I should get it. A week later, I came back to the store, and they still had it on sale, and I decided to get it. I’ve worn it so many times since!
Her Digital Coffee says
That’s wonderful Karalee! When you shop intentionally, it makes the purchase that much more worth it. I also love the idea of bookmarking something online. I never end up buying what I initially wanted, so it’s a great habit. Thank you for reading!
