What does your morning routine look like? For many of us, our morning ritual consists of a blaring alarm clock followed by checking our phones for notifications. All of those missed calls, text messages, and e-mails are enough to stress and overwhelm anyone within seconds.
While it’s great to get a head start and focus on your tasks for the day, it’s not the healthiest habit to practice. Your attention is immediately fixated on the things you must do and the people you need to respond to. Instead of feeling relaxed from a restful night’s sleep, you are now overwhelmed with an overload of information without having left the bed.
Never under estimate the power of taking small consistent steps. Change in any form can be challenging, but the end goal is always worthwhile. Let’s stop overstimulating our brains first thing in the morning and practice prioritizing a healthier morning routine. As always, please adjust these tips accordingly to specifically fit your needs.
9 Easy Ways to Transform Your Morning Routine
1) Stretch Relieve stiff muscles by doing a light stretch. Stretching helps with blood flow and circulation, especially after a restful night’s sleep. Stretching also helps relieve tension, which helps to prevent sprains and pain.
2) Open Your Windows Open your windows for 15-30 minutes. Get some fresh air flowing to ventilate your room. The natural sunlight provides a great boost of energy.
3) Freshen Up Wash your face and brush your teeth. You can put on your favorite playlist and dance along! It’s another great way to get your body moving in the morning.
4) Drink Water Start with a glass of water each morning before drinking a cup of coffee. The water helps to rehydrate your body to remove toxins and aid in digestion. I normally opt for a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon.
5) Make Your Bed Your bed is the focal point of your room. Making your bed is the easiest way to keep your space neat and tidy. Plus, it keeps you from wanting to jump back in!
6) Make a Healthy Breakfast Fuel your body with a nutritious breakfast. If you’re not big on eating breakfast like me, I still recommend having something small to boost your energy.
7) Listen to Music/Podcast I have an iPod that contains all my music, playlists, and podcasts. If you have a separate device from your phone, play something that fits your mood. Cafe Music BGM on YouTube is my go to. They have an upbeat jazz video for each day of the week!
8) Create a To-Do List Write down tasks/goals to accomplish for the day. A to-do list keeps track of what you need to focus on. This method ensures you don’t forget anything.
9) Meditate/Yoga/Light Exercise Get your body moving. No matter how much or how little, adding exercise into your morning routine is a great idea. This helps with circulation, increases your energy levels, and boosts alertness.
I hope you found these tips helpful. It’s important to make time for ourselves before we cater to our phones. For more productivity tips, visit my tag here. What does your morning routine look like? Are some of these steps something you’d incorporate into your routine? I’d love to know!

Such a helpful post! I’ve never been a morning person, which doesn’t help when you have a child who gets up super early lol but I’ve been trying to change that. I’ve started to stretch more in the mornings and have a pint of ice cold water to wake me up, it’s been great for shifting that groggy feeling.
Her Digital Coffee says
Mornings can be so hard, especially if you’re not a morning person! I’m glad stretching and cold water has been helpful! Thanks for reading Jordanne!
