Thanks for Sharing is an informative and entertaining guide to sustainable sharing. We live in a society where over-consumption is the norm, but Tucker is here to introduce us to the Sharing Economy. Rather than spend money on something new, Tucker raises the idea of sharing, lending, renting, and borrowing instead.

What is the Sharing Economy? How can it help us live more affordable, more sustainable, and ultimately more fulfilling lives? What would happen if for one year a family pledged to share as much as they possibly can? Instead of owning more and more stuff, what it’s like to stop owning things and borrow, lend, rent and swap instead?
goodreads.
I enjoyed reading about Tucker’s year-long experiment with the dos and don’ts of sustainable sharing. Each chapter dives into something different, such as food sharing, furniture sharing, and even dog sharing, yes, you read that right. Through sharing apps, Tucker was able to connect with her community and find ways to reduce food waste, support slow fashion, and keep second-hand or upcycled items out of the landfill.
There’s a lot of information to absorb when it comes to any guide, but I especially appreciated how Tucker included short bullet point summaries at the end of each part. This made it really easy to find the information you’re looking for without flipping back and forth. Tucker also included the names of the sharing apps we can use for the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.
If you’re interested in sustainable sharing, or you’re intrigued by how it works, I highly recommend Thanks for Sharing. I am interested in learning more about sustainable sharing! For about 7 years now I have been working on living a more sustainable and minimalist life. As a lover of fashion, I have found creative ways to still embrace fashion by renting instead of buying new clothes, restyling, and reusing as much as possible. Especially for parties, and other events, I opt for renting instead of buying. This read was so informative!
Cheers,
Tania

We have a shop in town that promotes sharing, swapping, and renting, it’s always really busy. And there’s Freecycle website too – giving and getting stuff for free locally, to reuse and keep good stuff out of landfills. Definitely the way forward!
