Blake Porter had it all until he was abruptly fired from his high-powered marketing job. Facing mounting debts and unable to make the mortgage payments on his beautiful Manhattan brownstone, he has no choice but to listen to his fiancé, Krista, who encourages him to rent out a room until he can get back on his feet.

Enter the perfect tenant, Whitney. She’s charming, beautiful, and seemingly the solution to all of Blake’s problems. But as time passes, eerie sounds come from her bedroom, a putrid smell permeates the kitchen, and he seems to be the only one who notices it. Is Blake slowly losing his mind? Or is there something more going on?
Told through the eyes of several different characters, this thriller offers a compelling and easy-to-follow narrative that pulls you in from the very beginning. I highly recommend the audiobook version. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the story to life by adding many layers of emotion that enhanced the experience.
As the twists began to unfold, the plot leaned into some wild territory. While the final reveal didn’t shock me, I have to give credit to the author for pulling off a twist that I genuinely didn’t see coming. It’s great when a story can surprise you, even if the outcome doesn’t land as powerfully as expected.
Although there were certain plot points that feel a bit too convenient or outlandish, I found this book gripping and hard to put down. If you’re a fan of this author, love thrillers, or you’re in the mood for a twisty and binge-able read, this would be a solid pick to add to your reading list. Order your copy on Amazon today.
The Tenant by Freida McFadden

I’m very late to the Freida McFadden party (I haven’t read any of her books) I am in the mood for bingeable thrillers that pull me along though!
I’m looking forward to starting her Housemaid’s series soon. Thank you for reading Sarah!
I have only read The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden, and I have been curious to read more of her books. The Tenant does sound pretty good even though some of the plot points are out there.
I’ve been meaning to get into The Housemaid series. The Tenant wasn’t what I’d hoped for, but it was definitely entertaining. Thanks for reading Karalee!
I have never read anything by Freida McFadden. I do plan to..
There’s a lot of mixed reviews with her work, but I definitely found this one to be entertaining. I hope you enjoy!
“It’s great when a story can surprise you, even if the outcome doesn’t land as powerfully as expected.”
I rarely find myself shocked, per se, by the “twist” of a thriller, but I’m always happy when it feels different or unexpected anyway (even if it doesn’t land for me personally). I haven’t read any Freida McFadden, though I plan to! I think I’ll start with one of her more popular (i.e. older) works first to get a good taste.
Thank you for reading ER!
Oh my, I love thrillers! I’m definitely putting this on my reading list.

Such a fabulous review! The Tenant really does sounds like a gripping, twisty thriller. Still haven’t read it myself, but I can’t wait to now! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Jordanne! I hope you enjoy it.
Overall, this sounds like a decent thriller that has some interesting premises, even though it ends without as much of a punch as you’d like. I would definitely read this as it seems quite intriguing!
It was definitely a page-turner! Thank you for reading Molly.
