Trying Saje Wellness’ Home Cleaning for the First Time

Most household cleaners are toxic, prompting many of us to seek healthier alternatives when cleaning our homes. I’m excited to be trying Saje Wellness’ Home Cleaning kits for the first time. Their aim is to create a plant-based and nature-derived cleaner with no synthetic chemicals, so that’s it’s better for you and for the planet.

Home Cleaning Kits and Refills

Each Cleaning Kit features a 500 ml (16.9 fl oz) refillable glass spray bottle and a small glass vial containing the natural cleaning extract. Simply pour the extract into the glass bottle, add distilled water, and you’re ready to go.

The Cleaning Kits retail for $24 CAD and the refill vials are $14 CAD. Having the option to purchase refills reduces plastic waste and is also a perfect option for those who already have their own glass bottles.

There are currently four cleaning solutions to choose from…

• Glass and Mirror – Grapefruit and Palmarosa

• Bathroom – Tea Tree and Lemon

• Multi-Surface – Lemon and Grapefruit

My Thoughts

I chose the Glass and Mirror Cleaning Kit because I can’t seem to ever get a streak-free shine on my mirrors. After two weeks of using this glass cleaner on mirrors, windows, and glass tables, I was very impressed by how easy it was to achieve a streak-free shine with just a few sprays and a micro-fibre cloth. 

I’m most grateful that the scent is very subtle. I can’t tolerate the strong smell of traditional glass cleaners, and since Saje products can sometimes be potent, I’m relieved this one is mild and doesn’t linger. If I had to describe it, it’s a very faint aroma of lemon and vinegar.

The high-quality bottle included in the kit is worth noting, featuring a nozzle that sprays evenly, versus bottles that shoot the product out in a single or uneven stream. I personally love the silicone grip at the bottom, which prevents the bottle from being knocked over.

By offering a glass bottle as an alternative, we’re saving handfuls of plastic ones from ending up in the landfill. This sustainable approach not only promotes environmental consciousness but also enhances the longevity of your cleaning routine through thoughtful recycling practices.

Critiques

• The cost of the kit and the individual refill vials can be costly, especially if you clean several times a week or have larger surface areas to tackle, but I have no problem supporting companies with a sustainable approach and I personally like the convenience of having these natural cleaners pre-mixed for me.

• Some of the essential oils used in these cleaners may not be safe for animals, such as lavender, lemon, grapefruit, etc. It’s best to check if they may be toxic to your pets or only using them in areas where your pets cannot reach.  

Conclusion

Saje’s commitment to quality and sustainability makes it a worthwhile choice, with the added bonus of occasional promotions and discounts on their emailing list that can make these eco-conscious products even more accessible.

I’d happily recommend this cleaning kit to anyone who’s looking to swap their current chemical cleaners to something that uses natural plant-based ingredients.
