Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start planning spring break activities that the entire family can enjoy. As the cost of living continues to rise, it may not be a feasible idea to plan a trip out of town, but who said you can’t have fun right where you are?

From budget-friendly activities like exploring local workshops to free activities like unwinding at the library, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your spring break without leaving the city. Whether you’re looking for indoor or outdoor activities, these suggestions cater to all weather conditions!
1) Attend Local Workshops Small businesses love to host workshops to encourage people to try something new and to meet others in the community. Some unique workshops that I’ve come across include creating your own perfume, making bracelets, and even cookie decorating classes. There’s so much to discover and the prices tend to range anywhere from $10 – $40 per person.
2) Visit the Library The library offers a wide range of entertainment, digital services, and workshops that the whole family can enjoy for free! If you don’t have a library card, now’s the time to sign up. Whether you’ve been eyeing a particular book or movie, you can sign out enough items to keep you entertained all weekend long.

3) Free Online Games Keep the entire family entertained with Culinary School’s collection of free online games. These educational, interactive, and fun games are geared towards kids but there are some challenging ones that adults can enjoy too. I like puzzles and business simulation games and personally loved Chef’s Experiments and Ice Cream. The responsiveness and load times were very quick, which made the gaming experience very pleasant.
4) Free Online Exhibits Speaking of enjoying activities online, if you love art and history then you need to visit Google Arts & Culture. This website gives you free access and virtual tours of famous museums such as The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo National Museum, Palace of Versailles, and more. It’s the perfect activity to enjoy on your own or with a fellow art lover.
Google Arts & Culture is a non-commercial initiative. We work with cultural institutions and artists around the world. Together, our mission is to preserve and bring the world’s art and culture online so it’s accessible to anyone, anywhere.

5) Try New Restaurants A handful of new bakeries and restaurants just opened up in my city and what better way to enjoy spring break than to try new foods? If you’re heading out with some friends, consider using a tip calculator. It easily calculates each person’s bill along with the tip. The website also includes some very interesting facts about the history of tipping in the United States.
With so many great activities to choose from, you won’t need to leave the city to enjoy spring break. I hope you’ve found some ways that you and your loved ones can have fun without spending too much money. What are your plans for spring break? I’d love to know!
