Are you a fan of Book Tags? I’ve stumbled across another great on one of my favorite blogs, Read and Review It. I love these types of tags because you can learn more about what other readers like. If you enjoy Book Tags, I encourage you to participate as well! For more blogging related posts, visit my tag here. This is the 20 Questions Bookish Book Tag.
1) How many books is too many books in a series? I haven’t read many books that are part of a series. However, the ones that I’ve read have been great stand-alone stories for anyone to enjoy. If the story is well-written and captivating, it doesn’t matter to me how many books there are in a series.
2) How do you feel about cliff-hangers? I don’t particularly love cliff-hangers, but I understand the need for them because it keeps the reader wanting more. I’m fine with them as long as there’s another instalment coming.
3) Hardcover or paperback? I enjoy paperback books. They cost less than hardcovers and I find them more comfortable to handle, whether I’m reading at home or carrying it with me on my travels.
4) Favorite book? I have so many favorite books, but I’ll share a favorite that I’ve read this year. I really enjoyed Abundance by Deepak Chopra. It’s a self-help book that offers insight on achieving prosperity and wealth through ancient teachers and spiritual practices. If you’re interested, you can read my full review here.
5) Least favorite book? My least favorite book of this year is #FollowMe for Murder by Sarah E. Burr. I really enjoyed the book’s description but once I started reading it, I found the pacing to be incredibly slow and the characters were not likeable. Nonetheless, that won’t keep me from checking out Burr’s other works.
6) Love triangles, yes or no? I don’t typically read romance, but I can appreciate anything that’s well-written!
7) The most recent book you just couldn’t finish? The most recent book I couldn’t finish was The Perfect Secret by T.J. Brearton. It had nothing to do with the book, but more so the format that I received from NetGalley. I’m a fan of Brearton’s work and plan on picking up the physical copy once it’s released.
8) A book you’re currently reading? I’m currently reading two books. No Exit by Taylor Adams and Don’t Let in the Cold by Keely Parrack. They’re both mystery/thrillers. I started reading No Exit after I watched the movie on Disney+. I had no idea it was based on a novel. Several reviews favored the book over the movie, so I decided to check it out. As for Don’t Let in the Cold I’d been anticipating my ARC approval and once it was granted, I had to start reading it right away.
9) Last book you recommended to someone? My last recommendation consisted of 4 self-help books on this blog, you can visit that post here.
10) Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date) The oldest book that I can think of at the top of my head is Goosebumps. I grew up reading these books and they were published in 1992.
11) Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date) The newest book that I’m reading is Don’t Let in the Cold by Keely Parrack. It’s expected to be released this September 2022.
12) Favorite author? I really enjoy Grady Hendrix’s work. His book Horrorstör is what inspired me to start reading again. It was such a fast-paced story. It got me excited to dive into his other works.
13) Buying books or borrowing books? I love buying books for two reasons. One, I love going to the bookstore and two, I want to build my own collection. Borrowing is also a great option to check out new books and decide if it’s one you’d want to add to your collection.
14) A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love? Atomic Habits by James Clear. This isn’t necessarily a book that I didn’t like, but it was a book that I couldn’t really connect to. I’d still love to give it another chance and revisit it one day.
15) Bookmarks or dog-ears? Bookmarks!
16) A book you can always re-read? A book I can always re-read is Everyday Mantras by Aysel Gunar. It’s a self-help book that is meant to be revisited again and again. It’s great to keep on your bedside table for extra motivation and inspiration!
17) Can you read while hearing music? Yes, but I prefer instrumentals. I tend to get distracted and sing along! I love listening to jazz music or background noises such as a crackling fireplace or rain. There’s actually a great playlist on Spotify that I always listen to and it’s called Jazz for Reading.
18) One POV or multiple POVs? I don’t have a preference, as long as the POVs are easy to follow I’m all for it! I’ve experienced books with multiple POVs that were difficult to follow and confusing at times and that can take the reader out of the story.
19) Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days? It depends on the book. I’m always hoping for a fast-paced read!
20) Who do you tag? There’s no pressure to participate, but I’d like to tag The Bashful Bookworm, That Happy Reader, Daily Dose of Cozy, and The Clockwork Reader! I’d also like to keep this tag open to those who’d like to join. If you partake, be sure to tag me so I can check out your post!

This was such a great read and fun tag! I am the same with books, I prefer buying them mostly because you get to stroll around bookstores and then keep them with you. I love multi POV stories and also series, but get what you mean if they are not entertaining enough and it can ruin them having a long following after. Thank you for sharing x
Her Digital Coffee says
I loved hearing your thoughts about series and multiple POVs! It truly all depends on the quality of the story and how it’s executed. Thank you for reading Cristina!

I love book tags & it was fun reading your answers! I agree it doesn’t matter how many books are in a series, if a book has a love triangle or how many POVs there are as long as it’s well-written & easy to follow! Years ago I read this book that had so many POVs & constantly switched between the characters that I couldn’t keep up.
Her Digital Coffee says
100%! Too many POVs can be confusing and take the reader out of the story if it’s not done right. Thank you for reading Karalee!

1) How many books is too many books in a series? I honestly don’t mind if a series has a lot of books provided that the story is good.
2) How do you feel about cliff-hangers? I have no issue with a chapter ending on a cliff-hanger but I hate it when a book has a cliff-hanger ending unless there’s a sequel in the works. It’s just frustrating to see that there’s no closure for the characters.
3) Hardcover or paperback? Paperback, it’s cheaper.
4) Favorite book? The Lord of The Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien.
5) Least favorite book? Dexter’s Final Cut by Jeff Linsay. The worst book of the series. The actions just don’t match the main character’s personality.
6) Love triangles, yes or no? I don’t read romance but I don’t mid love triangles in fantasy or horror as long as they are well written.
7) The most recent book you just couldn’t finish? None. I try to finish all the books I read.
8) A book you’re currently reading? The Lays of Beleriand (book 3 of The History of Middle Earth) by J.R.R.Tolkien.
9) Last book you recommended to someone? A fantasy adventure series called The Legend of The Singer, two parts called Children of the Dryads and Sorceress of The Dryads by Raina Nightingale.
10) Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date) – The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.
11) Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date) – I’ve read the first two chapters of Project Suncloud – A Winter for Doves by Nick J. Ripley. The rest of the book isn’t out yet.
12) Favorite author? J.R.R.Tolkien.
13) Buying books or borrowing books? I usually prefer to buy them.
14) A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love? Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, it’s seen one of the classic romance novels but I found it rather dull.
15) Bookmarks or dog-ears? Bookmarks!
16) A book you can always re-read? Any mythology book or The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien.
17) Can you read while hearing music? Yes, I like listening to heavy metal music when reading.
18) One POV or multiple POVs? I don’t have a preference as long as they are well written.
19) Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days? Over multiple days usually unless the book is very short.
20) Who do you tag? https://theaword.co.za/, https://enthralledbylove.com/, https://www.lakenhoneycutt.com/

Thank you participating Iza! I really enjoyed reading your thoughtful answers and learning more about your book preferences! I’m going to dive back into J.R.R.Tolkien’s works after this! Thank you for reading.
Jenny in Neverland says
I think I’ve done this tag in the past. I love reading other people’s answers! I’m rubbish with series of books, so I typically stick to single books. I used to read the James Patterson Women’s Murder Club series and LOVED it but I got to like book 8 in the series and gave up. It’s still going! I think number 12 has just come out which I think is a bittttt too many haha!
Her Digital Coffee says
Same, I prefer single books as well! I recently read a book not knowing it was part of a series and it seems like the story is dragging out. I’ll have to peek on your blog to see your post! Thank you for reading Jenny!
Em says
Such a lovely tag. Goosebumps was a throw back I used to read them in school. I also prefer paperbacks. Though I do love to buy books I prefer buying second hand books. I really should start borrowing books as I tend to read a book only once. There are only a handful of books I will read more than once. Though saying that I got half way through a book the other day before realising I had read it before!
Her Digital Coffee says
Borrowing is such a great option! Thank you for sharing your thoughts Em! It was really great to learn more about your preferences!
