Welcome to Life’s a Beach Book Tag! This fun tag was created by Lefty Reads and it’s inspired by all things summer. I love the references to nature and the questions that correlate with it. It’s such a unique and creative tag that inspires me to tackle even more books this summer.
I discovered this clever book tag this week on I’m All Booked Up and had to participate. I’ve included the links above, so be sure to check out the original post and their answers as well! While there are no rules for this post, be sure to tag the original creator if you partake!
Life’s a Beach Book Tag
THE SAND
A book that stuck with you long after reading
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix was a novel that stuck with me long after I finished reading it. Hendrix is so descriptive with his writing that it left vivid images in my mind. It’s also a book that I would’ve never thought to pick up but had to because I’m a huge fan of his work. I’m glad I did because it’s one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
THE SUN
A book that burned you
Run Time by Catherine Ryan Howard was a book I was looking forward to for months. It had such a great premise, but unfortunately ended up falling short. Although I was disappointed and wanted more, there were moments in this story that make up for parts that were lacking.
THE WAVES
A book that calms you down after a long day
Everyday Mantras by Aysel Gunar is the perfect book to pick up after a long day. It’s a lovely spiritual self-help book filled with positive mantras that encourages you to practice gratitude, celebrate your small wins, and to live in the present moment. The seasonally themed illustrations and colors used in this book are incredibly calming, which helps to unwind after a long day.
THE BATHING SUIT
A book with a pretty, summer-y cover
Quickwater Oracles by Ruth Thompson has a beautiful cover that reminds me of a calm summer evening. The clouds, the greenery, and the reflection in the water brings me a sense of peace. I can imagine myself sitting in the stillness, hearing the birds in the distance, and feeling that warm summer breeze.
THE BIRDS
A book that is everywhere
Becoming by Michelle Obama is a well-loved memoir that I can count on seeing on social media, at the grocery store, and of course, at the bookstores. Even prior to adding this book to my list, it was always recommended to me. Whenever I have conversations with people who’ve read the book, there’s always so much love and praise, and I couldn’t agree more.
THE COMPANY
A book with wonderful characters
My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix was filled with loveable characters. Hendrix established a beautiful connection between the characters Abby and Gretchen. You rooted for their friendship every step of the way. There were laughs, there were tears, and Hendrix tugged on those heartstrings.
THE ICE-COLD DRINKS
A book you absolutely gulped down
Being in Nature by James Farrell and Lee Evans contains 20 mindful practices to help you connect with nature. In a world where we’re constantly on the go, Farrell and Lee strive to remind us to slow down, appreciate the beauty around us, and strengthen our relationship with the natural world. I can guarantee that you’ll want to use these mindful practices the next time you’re outdoors.
THE FUN MEMORIES
A book you can’t wait to return to
Starry Night, Blurry Dreams is a graphic poetry book by popular South Korean illustrator, Henn Kim. While there are very few words in this book, the illustrations are meant to speak volumes. The lack of words allows the reader to interpret each piece in their own way. Returning to a book like this shows how we can perceive something one way, but come back to it and see it in another.
I hope you enjoyed reading this fun summer book tag. I encourage anyone who wants to participate to do so! Be sure to tag me, as I’d love to read your answers.
