I hope everyone had a successful Plastic Free July! As we welcome this new month, I hope the changes you’ve made in July have inspired you to continue to make sustainable swaps. One area in my home that I’ve been eager to make eco-friendly swaps is my kitchen. Since I used to purchase things in bulk, I wanted to use up what I had left before investing in new products. As soon as my drawers started emptying and I began searching, that’s when I came across Willow & Greene.

Willow & Greene is a woman owned company that strives to help individuals reduce their waste and plastic consumption without compromising style, quality, and design. Their founder, Lizzie, is passionate about combating the mountains of single-use plastics generated in the kitchen by creating sustainably sourced everyday essentials. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted with you and the planet in mind.
4 Essentials You Need for Your Kitchen
Lizzie kindly gifted me a Zero Waste Kitchen Kit. This kit includes their top four sellers such as their beechwood pot scrub, cedarwood soap dish, sponge, and eucalyptus dishwashing bar. Here’s a little fact about each product.
1) Beechwood Pot Scrub Stuck-on food and greasy pots are no match for Willow & Greene’s beechwood pot scrub! This ergonomic design features a wooden handle with stiff sisal plant fibre bristles made from the agave plant. This pot scrub not only replaces a plastic dish brush, but the bristles make cleaning so much easier.
2) Cedarwood Soap Dish Spanish cedar wood is a naturally decay resistant wood, which is why it’s typically used outdoors for fences, decks, and even roofing. It has a natural spicy cedar aroma, which was the first thing I noticed when I opened this kit! The beautiful red hue easily adds a pop of color to brighten your kitchen.

3) Loofah & Wood Pulp Sponge Say goodbye to your traditional plastic-based sponge. This loofah and wood pulp sponge is plant-based and compostable! It’s hand-sewn with cotton thread instead of using plastics or adhesives. Sanitization is easy, simply boil the sponge in hot water or put in your dishwasher! TIP: Soak your loofah sponge in water and watch it soften and expand!
4) Eucalyptus Dishbar This biodegradable and multi-purpose soap is gentle on your hands while being tough on grease. Not only can you use this soap on your dishes, but it can also be used to treat stains on clothing or ground up and used as washing detergent! One of my favorite things about this dishbar is how my entire kitchen smelled of fresh eucalyptus afterwards. Did you know? Solid soaps require less energy to manufacture and requires less packaging than liquid soaps.
This starter kit contains only the essentials, which means you won’t have to worry about space or owning too many items you won’t use. If there are any colleagues, friends, or loved ones that you would like to encourage to make more sustainable choices, this kit would be an ideal gift. As if style, design, and quality weren’t enough to support Willow & Greene, they also include personal touches such as handwritten notes.
My Final Thoughts

These products sound amazing. I’m especially intigued by the Loofah & Wood Pulp Sponge as I just hate those yellow sponges I buy in the store.
I agree, the yellow ones never last and harbour so much bacteria. I like that you can disinfect the pulp sponge with hot water or throw it in the dishwasher! Thank you for reading Wendy!
