Welcome to The Summer Bucket List Book Tag created by Read by Tiffany. It’s a fun book tag that highlights the summer season. I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like to this summer, but that’s all about to change. I’ve come across some five star reads recently, which have inspired me to get back on track.

The Summer Bucket List Book Tag
Hit the Beach
a book set by the water
I’m currently reading The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager and I’m loving it so far. If you’re a fan of Sager’s work or love mystery/thrillers you’ll enjoy this book. Sager does an incredible job describing the lake in detail, which makes you feel as though you’re on the water. (In this case, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the water.) Stay tuned for my review!
Watch Fireworks
a book that had a firey romance
I don’t typically read romance novels, so I don’t have one for this category. While there are some romantic moments in other genres that I’ve read, I wouldn’t necessarily describe them as firey.
Go for a Road Trip
a book that involves a journey
The Cabin in the Woods by Sarah Alderson took us on a rollercoaster ride. We follow a young woman named Rose who’s been through it all. From living the life of luxury to now hiding out in a cabin in the woods, her journey will surely keep you guessing and wanting more.
Camp Under the Stars
a book that left you starstruck
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine had a character that left me starstruck. I was in awe of Gina Royale/Gwen Proctor’s strength and determination to fight and never give up despite what she’s been through. This book is the first part of a long series. I haven’t read the second book yet, but I’m sure the Gina/Gwen’s resilience still shines through.
Marathon Some Movies
a book you couldn’t put down
Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak was an absolute page turner. I would’ve finished the entire book in one sitting had it not been for the chilling sketches and the fact that I was reading this at one in the morning. If you’re a horror fan, you’ll love this book.
Go Out for Ice Cream
a book with a sweet romance
I do have a book for this category! I recently read With Love from Wish & Co. It’s a light-hearted story that featured some sweet romance. I believe anyone who’s a fan of women’s fiction and loves an easy story would enjoy this book.
Picnic in the Park
a book that was a breath of fresh air
I recently read Jennette McCurdy’s new memoir titled I’m Glad My Mom Died. It’s a story about childhood trauma, personal struggles, and finding your true self. I found it refreshing because of how authentic she was. The subject matter in this book is heavy, and I can’t image it was easy to tell her story and yet she didn’t hold back.
Go for a Hike
a character who conquered an obstacle
Dr. Glass by Louise Worthington described a character who conquered a lot. Dr. Emma-Jane Glass is a clinical psychologist. After Glass’ interview on a local radio was deemed controversial, Glass begins receiving threatening letters from an anonymous source. Glass is then abducted, and the game of survival begins.
Grill Some BBQ
a book featuring delicious food
I’ve heard wonderful things about Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch. I’m a huge fan of gelato so I’m sure there will be many nods to that in this book. While I haven’t read this yet, I’m excited to get to it by the end of the summer.
Watch the Sunrise
a book that inspired you
How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint by Ellen Tout was an inspiring read. It contained practical information and tips that you can incorporate into your lifestyle with ease. I highly recommend this book for everyone. It’s less than 200 pages, which makes it a quick and easy read and hopefully will inspire you as well.
