April is Earth Month and I’m excited to share some easy ways you can participate in the Earth Month Ecochallenge. Ecochallenge is a digital platform that shares fun challenges that encourage new behavioral habits. These challenges are simple, doable, and effective.
With five different action categories to choose from, there are a handful of practical ways that you can make a difference. Join thousands from around the world this month to help make a collective difference for your community and for our planet.
What is The Earth Month Ecochallenge?
Each year, Ecochallenge hosts a program that highlights how daily actions and continuous learning can make a big impact. This year’s theme is “Conserving Every Ecosystem, Caring for Every Creature.”
Small steps lead to big change. Together, we build a more sustainable world.
ecochallenge.
From April 1st to April 30th the focus will be on environmental and social engagement. The goal is to raise awareness and to enforce positive daily habits that’ll make a difference in the long run for not just humans but for all species and ecosystems.
What are the tasks?
Sign up for an account on Ecochallenge and you can either join a community team or create your own. With each task you complete, you’ll earn points for your team. These points showcase how big of an impact your team is making.
Note: If you don’t want to sign up for an account, you can still access the website’s resources for free and track your own progress.
There are a number of tasks available and you’re free to choose one or as many as you’d like. The action categories this year include community, freshwater and oceans, land and forests, climate and air, and biodiversity. One time and daily actions are available in each category and a few of my favorites include…
One-time actions
• Join a local clean up around the river, beach, or natural body of water
• Use their linked resources to learn about your water/carbon footprint
• Research which local flowers provide nectar and plant them for the bees
• Save money and reduce waste by borrowing something instead of buying
Daily actions
• Bring a reusable water bottle and say no to single-use plastics
• Pick up any litter that you may see whenever you’re outside
• Properly dispose of cooking oil to reduce damage to waterways and ecosystems
• Write a letter/email to public officials/companies to advocate for sustainable policies
What happens after April?
After one month of paying close attention to your daily habits, you’ll be able to identify which areas you can continue to improve on and find better alternatives to help you live a more sustainable lifestyle.
For example, after conducting a plastic audit and paying close attention to the single-use plastics that you use in the kitchen, bathroom, and in personal care products, you’re now able to see your plastic consumption and find ways to slowly incorporate plastic-free alternatives and refuse single-use plastics whenever possible.
By taking the time to monitor our daily routine and learn about our impact, we can find practical ways to reduce our consumption and waste. Let’s work together to make sustainable choices that’ll benefit our wallets, other species, and our planet. Visit Ecochallenge to participate. What actions will you be taking this Earth Month? I’d love to know!

What a great campaign. I’ve not heard of Earth Month Ecochallenge before. My daughter and I are very conscious of the environment and do what we can to do our bit for the planet. She also gets taught good practices at school now which is great. Anything we can do to improve our carbon footprint we should try and do it.
Great article!
