I recently put L’Occitane’s new and improved stick deodorant to the test to see how well it performs, from the scent, application, to overall effectiveness.

L’Occitane released their new and improved deodorants that come in 3 different scents:
• Verveine Agrumes: Crispy & Zesty
• Cédrat: Citrus & Woody
• Cédre Encens: Spicy & Woody
They are formulated without alcohol or aluminum salts, provide 24 hour odor protection, and refills are available. They retail for $29 CAD each and refills are $26 CAD.
My Thoughts
Whenever a luxury brand comes out with a deodorant, I tend to go in with low expectations. I’ve tried a handful of brands from Holt Renfrew to Sephora, and while they typically smell amazing, I never found one that actually worked.
After using L’Occitane’s deodorant for a month, I can honestly say that I’m truly impressed. I’m used to using a liquid deodorant, so it was nice switching to a balm formula. It glided on with ease without leaving behind a sticky or wet residue. Not only did a little go a long way, but it was very effective at keeping me smelling fresh throughout the hot summer days.
Out of the 3 scents, I chose Verveine Agrumes. It’s a blend of lemon, verbena, and cedar, with the floral notes being the most noticeable. It’s quite soft and subtle once applied, so you don’t have to worry about it being overpowering.
Critiques
• This deodorant is not an antiperspirant. It does not contain aluminum, so it will not be a good fit for those looking for sweat protection.
• Unlike advertised, this deodorant does not provide 24 hour odor control, but it does keep you fresh throughout the day.
• Does contain SLS, which is an ingredient that can cause irritation for those with sensitive skin. I recommend doing a patch test on your arm prior to using.
Conclusion
I’m surprised by how much I loved using L’Occitane’s new and improved deodorant. I liked the balm formula, the delicate floral-citrus scent, and the fact that it’s refillable. If you’re looking for a new deodorant that works, this is a great option to consider. Which scent would you consider trying? Crispy & zesty, citrus & woody, or spicy & woody? I’d love to know!

I’d go for Cédrat, citrus and woody sounds just right to me. And I really appreciate that you pointed out it doesn’t quite live up to the 24 hour claim. That kind of honesty makes a review so much more useful. The refill option is a big plus too.
