From the best selling author and screenwriter of Netflix’s The Weekend Away, comes a new dark psychological thriller with twists you won’t see coming. The Cabin in the Woods follows a young woman named Rose. Rose had a tough upbringing and couldn’t believe how quickly her life changed upon meeting Ryan.

Ryan was charming, smart, and came from a position of power and financial status, everything Rose didn’t have. Within months, the pair get married and things seemed perfect, almost too perfect. How did Rose, a wealthy socialite, end up living under a new alias in the middle of the woods? Who or what is she hiding from?
The Cabin in the Woods is the best mystery/thriller I’ve read to date. Alderson’s writing style flows so smoothly and keeps the reader engaged with every word. The chapters in this book alternate between the past and the present, and while I normally don’t prefer this style, Alderson did a wonderful job making it very easy to follow.
The one thing that I notice about most thrillers is that they’re often wrapped up very quickly in the last few chapters, but not this one. Alderson took her time telling the story and allowed the ending to have its moment. As a thriller fan, I truly appreciated that. The only critique I have is that there were moments in the beginning that were overly descriptive, other than that, it was a fantastic book.
After reading The Cabin in the Woods, I’m excited to check out Alderson’s other works. If you’re a fan of mysteries and thrillers, I know you’ll love this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for this advanced reading copy (eARC) in exchange for my honest review. The Cabin in the Woods will be available on July 7th, 2022. I really like how you described how the author approached the ending; taking their time and delving a little deeper than most do within this genre. I like the sound of this because of that; I may have to add it to my growing list of things to read!
The ending was very well thought-out and unlike anything I’ve come across before in this genre! Thank you for reading Molly!
