We are almost one week into August, and there’s still so much I want to experience this summer. Since our plans were derailed last year, many of us are trying to find ways to enjoy our activities while following restrictions and staying safe.
I’ve created a simple list including things that you can do both indoors and outdoors safely. Don’t give up on your summer bucket list just yet. Here are 5 exciting things to do before summer ends.
1) Enjoy a staycation Book a hotel or an Airbnb in your city. You may choose an area that you’re already familiar with or pick a new neighborhood to explore. This gives you a change of scenery and a break from things that are all too familiar. This a great option for cities that are still facing restrictions.
Don’t forget to take advantage of their amenities such as using their fluffy robes, getting in some light exercise at the gym, and taking a dip in the pool. If you’re looking for more ways to relax, indulge yourself with a day at the spa.
2) Visit a National Park Sightseeing and hiking with good company are things that make my summer memorable. Consider driving out to a national park and enjoying some fresh air, taking in the beautiful scenery, and spending time with nature.
We’ve been spending a lot more time in front of our screens due to the pandemic and it’s time to reconnect with nature. Before you head out, be sure to check out my post on what to keep in your car in case of emergencies here.
3) Go berry picking Berry picking is such a fun activity to do with your friends and family. Each summer I’d take a road trip to British Columbia and visit their berry picking farms.
For a small fee, you can enter these farms and pick berries that are currently in season. Not only are you creating memories and soaking up the summer sun, but you’ll have fresh and delicious berries for baking pies and making smoothies!
4) Visit a local park There are some great parks in my city that are popular for picnics, boating, and barbecues. It’s the perfect time to discover some new ones this summer. Many of them are incredibly spacious, which makes it very easy to stay socially distanced from others.
There are also fire pits available in some areas that help keep the bugs away, which is perfect if you’re planning on bringing food or making s’mores. Do some research around local parks and you may find a new spot that’ll become your favorite for many summers to come!
5) Work on home improvement Is there a room in your home that you’ve always wanted to revamp? It’s the perfect task to take on before summer ends, especially if you’ve been meaning to get rid of some old clutter or just want something more functional for fall.
Whether it’s choosing a new paint color for your walls, redoing the floors, or even turning an unused space into a functional one, use your time to design and create a space that you can enjoy for fall.
Have you checked these activities off already? What are some things you’re looking forward to before summer ends? Share your thoughts below!

A few hikes sound like a perfect way to end the season. And berry picking! Maybe we can squeeze that in before the apple orchards open. Thanks!

These are all great ideas! Before our baby was born, my hubby and I made sure to get out and have a couple of meals at restaurants–since we weren’t allowed to for months thanks to lockdown–and it makes all the difference to enjoy the simple things in life like dinner out or visiting a local park.

It truly does! Thank you for reading Giulia!

I love these ideas. 🙂 Enjoying ourselves does not have to cost a fortune, and it’s also important to remember that we don’t have to wait until the ‘right time’ either. In most cases, we could all fit some more relaxation & fun time into our hectic lives.
National parks are some of my favorite places on planet Earth. As an introvert, I adore getting out into the quiet of nature. It’s just such a healing and restorative experience, right?
I also love the idea of home improvement too. Like you said, you can design and create a space that makes you feel happy every time you walk into it. What a blessing that is!
Sending love & hugs your way. I hope your week treats you kindly. ♥

Thank you so much for reading Holly! I always appreciate your kind words and lovely energy! You’re absolutely correct, enjoying ourselves doesn’t have to cost a lot of money nor do we have to wait until the right time. It’s all about enjoying your own company or the company of others! I hope you are having a lovely summer so far!

Great ideas! I was able to go camping last week and my boyfriend and I often go to my local park but I haven’t actually gotten around to any of the others. I remember I loved berry picking when I was younger so I might try and go again, and I haven’t visited a National Park in a while now! Thanks for sharing x
