Yellow gold jewelry has been the standout trend this year, mostly in the form of delicate everyday hoop earrings, chain necklaces, and statement rings. As a silver and white gold lover for years, I’ve finally added a few pieces of yellow gold to my collection and I’m glad I did because it brings so much warmth to my appearance.

While trends are fun, the right jewelry should complement your skin’s undertones and personal style. By understanding how each metal interacts with your complexion, you can invest in high quality pieces that will enhance your natural beauty and last for years to come.
Warm Tones: Gold is Your Friend
If you have warm tones—think golden, olive, or yellow undertones—gold jewelry tends to complement your complexion beautifully. The rich, yellow hue of gold creates a harmonious balance of warmth and dimension.
There are several different colors to choose from when buying gold, such as yellow gold or rose gold, but either choice can highlight the natural warmth in your skin depending on what you’re looking for.
Cool Tones: Silver Shines Bright
For those with cool undertones—think pink or blue-toned skin—silver jewelry tends to look the best. The cool, crisp shine of silver contrasts beautifully, making your skin appear even more vibrant.
When buying silver, you also have options as well. While sterling silver is a classic, platinum or white gold can also work well with cool undertones. These metals have a similar finish to silver but with a bit more weight, luxury, and longevity when it comes to shine.
Neutral Tones: You Can Go Either Way!
If you have neutral undertones, then both gold and silver are fair game. Neutral tones give you the flexibility to wear either metal beautifully. If you want something classic and timeless, go for gold. If you prefer something sleek and contemporary, silver will be your go-to.
Tip! Consider layering both metals for a trendy, mixed-metal look. This can add depth to your style and allow you to wear both pieces in gold and silver.
When buying gold or silver, whether it’s through jewelry, coins, or bars, it’s important to consider both the value and your personal preferences. In the case of jewelry, choosing between gold and silver is about highlighting your unique beauty based on your skin tone. Do you have a preference between gold and silver jewelry? I’d love to know!

When I was younger I only wore silver I was a rebel/goth so not gold for me LOL. But when I out grew this I mostly wore gold, but silver is so having a moment right now and I have been wanting to pick up some silver pieces. In fact on NYE I went out to dinner with a friend and she was wearing super pretty sparkly silver necklaces and I was so inspired to get some similar pieces.
